Personal Story Project
Overview
Teen Health & Wellness: Real Life, Real Answers is offering teens an opportunity to share their personal stories for online publication.
Sharing stories is a powerful way to connect with other people. By sharing their own personal stories, your teens can connect with others who are dealing with the same challenges that they are. By telling their stories, they can reach out and help someone better understand their own experience. If their stories are accepted for publication, they can take pride in being published online as part of an award-winning database and will also receive a letter of commendation and monetary gift.
Please share this Personal Story Project Flyer with your teens. It contains full details of the program, guidelines, and submission instructions.
We also offer a lesson plan on Editing and Writing for Publication. By participating in our Personal Story Project, students can learn how to write and edit material for publication, based on specific submission requirements.
Programming Ideas
The Personal Story Project can support a variety of teen programming activities such as:
Sample Stories
Read authentic, first-person narratives from teens on scoliosis, death of a parent, volunteering, and religious discrimination. These personal stories—along with many more—currently appear on Teen Health & Wellness. You can view all stories on our archive page.
Submissions
New Personal Stories are added to Teen Health & Wellness on an ongoing basis. Your teens can send us a Personal Story at any time.
If an essay is selected for the database, teen writers will receive 1) a letter of commendation from Rosen Publishing notifying them of acceptance and 2) a $20 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.

Read a Story, Write Your Own
Teen Health & Wellness contains personal stories of teens who have experienced tough issues first-hand. Read their true stories, then write one of your own. Check out the stories on accidental death; binge eating; birth order; citizenship; death of a parent; decision making; dyslexia; leadership; religious discrimination; or volunteering—for some ideas. This is a great way to practice for your college entrance essays, and you can submit your story to Rosen Publishing for possible publication in Teen Health & Wellness. You might soon be a published author!
